Savvy Family Time

Fun Creative Activities To Do At Home With Your Family

The summer vacations are the ideal opportunity to spend more time with your family, especially with your children as they are off from school. You don’t necessarily need to go to an expensive resort in a luxury hotel to be able to spend quality time together as a family. All you need is some creativity and time to be able to enjoy each other’s company.

Complete a Jigsaw Together

You can dust off your board games and puzzles from the shelves and do a jigsaw puzzle together. It is something different that does not involve screen time and you can give each family member a different section to complete it even quicker.

Do Some Word Puzzles

You could team up and do some word puzzles together like crosswords, word searches and then look up the 7 little words answers to see who is the champion. It’s a great way to use your creative and thinking skills too.

Cook Up Your Favorite Dishes

Everyone will have a particular dish that they really enjoy, so why not cook a mixture of family favorites so that everyone can get involved in the cooking process and enjoy the results.

Have a Painting Competition

All you need is some blank paper, paints and paintbrushes and you are all good to go. You can create a little competition and see who can make the most creative and fun painting within a specific time frame. It is a great way for everyone to get their creative juices flowing, even if you think you are not a creative person at all, it is still fun to have a go.

Create a Themed Garden Picnic

Your children will probably have a favorite film that they enjoy watching countless times. Why not buy some accessories and clothing so that you can recreate the theme of their chosen film. You could bake some lovely homemade treats and sit in the backyard on a lovely sunny day enjoying your picnic together.

Build Your Own Science Experiments

With everyday items you can easily find at home, you could gather the kids together and get them involved in some homemade science experiments. They would be having fun but also learning about basic scientific experiments along the way too.

Host a Movie Night

You could set up your living room space into a homemade cinema by rearranging the furniture, making popcorn and sweet treats and creating admission tickets for the children to give you, as though they were attending a real cinema. Then sit back, relax, and enjoy watching a variety of family friendly films. If it’s a nice summer’s evening you could set up an outdoor cinema with a bedsheet and projector.
