MY REVIEW
Energy Wars: The Awakening is a fantastic read that is perfect for age 8 and up. This is a great choice for middle school readers and beyond as it is beautifully written and to be honest …..I am a grown adult and loved this book. I actually cannot wait for the next book in the series and always enjoy books with sequels as I find it so fun waiting in anticipation for that next amazing book to keep the story alive. Energy Wars: The Awakening will suck you in and keep you entertained until the books end. I found this one to be a fats read too and I am adding it to my kids book collection as I know they will enjoy this one.
Energy Wars: The Awakening is a book about a young kid named Myles who is in 8th grade. The story starts out with Myles describing his typical day in school and then seeing Sally….who shows up in an outfit that she gets teased over as everyone thinks she is wearing a Halloween costume. As the classmates make fun of her, Myles begins to think he is cursed as he can see people’s energy and when they are teasing Sally that energy is being shot at her… but no one can see it except for Myles. He can also see Sally standing up for herself and shooting energy back at the kids teasing her….and on and on it goes. Myles realizes that he can now see energies between people… both good and bad energies. He tries to learn as much as he can about this new found gift as he now has with his ability to see peoples energies and hence the title Energy Wars: The Awakening. Myles has awakened to these new found powers and he is trying to figure out what to do with it. I don’t want to ruin the entire story for you but I wanted to share a paragraph that I just loved so much. It is from Chapter 7.
“At that moment, I understood that we have a responsibility to bring happiness to others, even those we’ve never met. We also have a responsibility to not spread misery. And you can’t fake it, because energy is real. You are affecting people around you even when you don’t know it. We need to learn to become aware of our own energy and to contain or control it.”
I just loved this beautiful paragraph and the information that this book provides in addition to a fun story. I love the addition of science added into the mix too and know that my daughter will be intrigued by that as she loves science and its always been her favorite subject. I highly recommend this incredible book and cannot wait for the sequel later this year!
