Savvy DIY Tips: How Taupe Redefines the World of Design Today
It is no secret to anyone that knows me, that I love to decorate and style my home. It has never been a problem for me as I have a strong visual eye and I know immediately when I see a piece of furniture or a design pallet that I love, that that is the “one” that I will need to complete my project. I have been a huge fan of the taupe color palette for pretty much forever because it is timeless and never goes out of style. I love black painted or stained furniture as well as furniture pieces made of dark woods, as they look really good with the taupe color scheme. I am not really into that “matchy matchy” style that so many go for. I like to mix the pieces up and turn a bunch of odds and end pieces into a masterpiece when properly placed….. kind of like that straw bench at the foot of the bed in the picture above. It adds a ton of character and texture to the room and I just love the mix of textures to create the bold but subtle look.
This hobby and favorite past time can come in handy if you love refinishing and refurbishing older pieces of furniture that need a little love. I love snagging deals at yard sales, thrift stores and sometimes…..if I get lucky, someone throws an amazing piece away and it is sitting at the curb. I love to snag those pieces and you seriously would not believe the amazing pieces that some people simply toss into the trash. They are treasures for sure and I find it so exciting to add them in some way to my collection. I so enjoy transforming any room in my home into a masterpiece by collecting traditional as well as eclectic pieces and it does not have to ever cost a fortune. It takes time to collect them…. but keeping with this taupe neutral pallet scheme is the way to go because you can truly keep your home in style for years and years to come due to this colors versatility and timelessness. There are so many options when it comes to the taupe color. There are varieties and shades to suit anyone’s needs and tastes.
You can see above that the taupe palette is very versatile and includes many colors to choose from. They all mix together perfectly and by using this versatile color palette you can achieve many looks throughout your home in the many different rooms that you have, with an even and comfortable flow……. all without it being too “matchy matchy”. It is the perfect color palette that keeps your rooms feeling large and airy too…. and I love being able to use dark furniture pieces wherever I would like……without the room feeling too dark and drab. I have found several amazing tips and style ideas at Homesthetics and I have them bookmarked for an amazing future resource. The taupe color palette is perfect for every room in your home and you can see all of the amazing style and ideas below to get your decorating mojo in full swing!
And please do not forget all of the finishing touches that every room need to feel homey and comfortable…. like blankets, baskets, decor items…. pretty much anything! The taupe color pallet is so versatile and so many for the taupe color options are perfect together without being exactly the same and I just love that. Throw in various textures and some amazing decor pieces and you are good to go! One thing I throw into the mix…. and it works beautifully with the taupe color….. are live houseplants. I love gorgeous and eclectic looking plants that add style and liveliness to any room in your home.
There are so many various taupe colors…. there are greyish taupe colors, taupe colors that are a richer brown and of course the super light taupe color which all mix well with natural woods and tiles. I just love it… clean, bright and airy and a great way to mix textures and various style to create a timeless style in your home for generations to come!

I like taupe. It’s not too dark and not too light (which is horrible with 3 kids & animals!) Such a neutral color.

I have to say I love these colors. I’m considering moving, and if I do, and I’ll be painting, I’d love to use these taupes. Right now I have cream, blue and yellow, sounds nice, but I’d love a more sophisticated palette an natural colors!

I typically like bold and loud colors BUT I also love an easy to match with anything, easy to clean and relaxing taupe too! I think it depends on the room and my mood.

I find taupe to be boring and plan but I really like the dark colors! Never thought of those and it goes with everything!

I totally agree…. I never thought it was more than the typical “taupe” color… boring and blah….. but there are so many diverse shades in the family and they all blend well together. Throw in your favorite “pop of color” and you are all set. Those “pops of color” will be your focal point for sure and everyone will love it. 🙂

I think the beige and white look so good together. I love beige walls and white doors and trim.

I love neutral colors like this, you can even add pops of color here and there and nothing will clash

Exactly… I am a huge fan of pops of red… and it would work done properly… anything would. Love that about this color pallete. 🙂

I love the colors they used in the room, one of the ceilings they did was amazing, and I really like how they used wallpaper on one side of the wall, so pretty looking.
