My husband and I are working on remodeling our home which was built in the early 70’s and is a bit outdated, but before that is even completed we are ensuring that we have the fire safety products needed to ensure our home is covered and more importantly…that our family has the fire safety products needed to ensure a living environment where we can feel safer.
We recently took the time to prepare our home for fire safety since October is National Fire Prevention month. It was the perfect time to take a moment to think about fire safety and to ensure that we are prepared and ready as a family. We already have working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms in our home, but decided to add additional smoke alarms as well as a fire extinguisher to our kitchen as you can never be too prepared.
Recently when shopping at The Home Depot, we picked up a 2 pack of Kidde 10 year smoke alarms and a fire extinguisher as we have decided to add an additional smoke alarm upstairs near the kids rooms as well as another near the electrical panel in our basement.
The installation of the smoke alarms was a breeze as there is no wiring needed. Each unit comes with a 10 year battery so you can rest assured that your home is protected for a full 10 years.

I cannot tell you the importance of good fire equipment. I never had to worry about forgetting since my town did yearly fire inspections…if our stuff was not up to par, it was $150 fine. You better believe I was stringent on fire safety until I sold that place.
