How long do the results of teeth whitening last?
If you are unhappy with the color of your teeth you may want to consider whitening them. Off white, or dirty colored teeth can adversely affect your appearance. This can lead to a decrease in your self-confidence. Teeth whitening can help but you need to be careful if your teeth are sensitive. If this is the case you should check with your dentist as this can be a sign that you need treatment other than teeth whitening. Visit your local dentist in Sidcup if you’re from that area of the UK!
If you decide that teeth whitening is the best option for you then you have different options to consider. The results of each option last for different lengths of time so you should reach a decision carefully. We are going to explain the three main options when it comes to teeth whitening and take a look at how long you can expect the teeth whitening results to last.
Using a teeth whitening toothpaste
If you use a toothpaste to whiten your teeth you are making use of the abrasive method. You should not be worried about the word abrasive as the particles used are tiny and only serve to remove light staining from your teeth. That being said, you should not use teeth whitening toothpaste too often as it can damage the enamel on your teeth if you do. This teeth whitening option is only suitable for the removal of very light stains and people are often less than satisfied with the results.
Using a home teeth whitening kit
You may decide that a home teeth whitening kit is the best option for you. There are various types of these teeth whitening kits on the market but they are fairly similar. You apply a gel or cream to your teeth and you are also often required to use an LED light to improve the results of the process. You need to be committed to carrying out this process on more than one occasion in order to achieve the best results. However, you should always follow the instructions and never over use home teeth whitening kits. Once you have used one of these kits you will normally find that the results last for around three months. If you don’t want to do this by yourself, then don’t worry you can easily go to a dentist that can help you out with this sort of thing. For example, you could check out something like this website here: scottsdaledentalcare.net to give you an idea of what a dentist should offer.
Undergoing teeth whitening at the dentist
If you want to achieve teeth whitening results that last then you should think about having professional teeth whitening carried out. You could easily go to someone like Dentist Fort Wayne to get your teeth checked, but it’s up to you. Results can be achieved within one hour and can last for approximately twelve months. The reasons for this are two fold; the bleach and LED light used are both a lot stronger than those used for home whitening. The disadvantage with this type of teeth whitening is that the cost is a lot higher than that for home teeth whitening.
As you can see, the length of time that teeth whitening results last depends on what procedure you opt for. You can certainly achieve decent results with a home teeth whitening kit but you need to make sure that you follow the instructions. If you want really long lasting results then you may want to check out professional teeth whitening as an option.

I loved having my teeth whitened as it made my smile so much prettier. However, my teeth ended up getting really sensitive to it and now I can’t do it anymore. It makes me sad, but it was really quite painful.

I’ve wanted to have my teeth whitened for awhile. Unfortunately, it’s been cost-prohibitive to have done at the dentist. I like some of the at-home versions. The side effect is sensitivity unfortunately.

If you want results that last, having your teeth professionally whitened seems like the most logical way to go. However since I eat & drink a lot of things that will stain my teeth, a cheaper home version would be more beneficial for me.
