How To Stay Active When Working From Home

More and more people are working from home these days. It might be a new thing, something that was done as a response to the pandemic currently taking place in the world, or it could be something that you have been doing for a while now. Either way, it’s a trend that is set to stay, and with more companies than ever getting on board with the idea, it’s something that workers are going to need to contend with in the future too.

Working from home definitely has its benefits; there is no commute, you can spend more time with your family and doing hobbies, and you can save money too. However, there are some downsides, and one of these is that you may not get as much exercise or be as active as you were when working in an office. So here are some tips for staying active even when you’re working from home.

Set A Movement Alarm

If you are concentrating on your work, you might not realize just how much time has gone by without you actually having taken a break and stood up and moved around. When you are working in an office with other people, their movements will stimulate your own, and make you understand that it’s time for a break, or at least to stretch a little and stop staring at the screen for a few minutes. On your own, at home, it’s a different story, and you could forget to move altogether.

One way to get around this and get more active is to set alarms so that you are reminded to get up and move around. Once every hour, try getting up and leave your desk and computer for 10 minutes or so. You can do some stretching exercises, go out to the yard to enjoy the sunshine, or run up and down the stairs a few times – whatever is best for you. As long as you are away from your desk, you will be using your break time wisely. Make sure your medicine cabinet has plenty of supplements in it from medical-supermarket.com and add these to your daily routine for an extra boost of energy and efficiency.

Get Up Earlier For Class

One of the great benefits of working from home is that you can sleep for longer because there is no long commute to deal with. This can be sorely needed, but what if, on the days that you get enough sleep and can easily get up earlier, you used that extra time to join in with a workout class? You don’t even have to leave the house to do it – you can look online, and you’ll see lots of different classes that you can watch and copy. Most are free, so there really is no excuse not to give it a try.

When you work out first thing in the morning, you will feel much more awake, and you will be more focused and productive at work. Plus, of course, you’ll get fitter and healthier along the way.

Use Your Meetings To Move

If you have to dial into meetings during the day, use them as an opportunity to move around. You can use your mobile devices to be present at the meeting, and as you are talking, you can move from place to place within your home, or at the very least, you can stand up and move around the room you are working in. This may only be a small movement, but it will make a difference.
