When Lorena M. Proia graduated with a BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology in Graphic Design and Painting, she never imagined she’d become an Information Architect in high-tech. She thought her creativity was lost until she was rescued by an Australian Shepherd named Phebe. Inspired by Phebe’s antics, her drawings became Phebe-n-Me, a t-shirt company, which grew up to become a children’s book! How to Make a Sandwich is her first picture book.

MY REVIEW

I absolutely love this beautifully crafted children’s picture book as it’s the perfect addition to my child’s book collection! ‘How To Make A Sandwich’ is gorgeously illustrated too which is everything to me when choosing books for my children and this book is a must have for any child ages 4 and older. I have to say I love reading books with my youngest and this one is super fun to read out loud plus it makes the perfect read for bedtime or anytime!

I love Rae in this book as she is an adventurous little gal that loves doing so many things including making a sandwich when she’s hungry. I absolutely love the concept of the sandwich being like family with her parents being the bread, the Turkey being the love and more. It’s a beautiful message and we found this book to be a blast to read all the while enjoying the gorgeous illustrations found throughout. My daughter found it so funny each time that Rae’s ingredients were missing and I could understand her frustration after so many attempts at trying to make her yummy sandwich.
