The Dead Sea Squirrels: Season 1 Soundtrack Review — Faith, Fun & Catchy Songs Kids Will Love PLUS A Giveaway!

If your family loves fun characters, silly adventures and stories that teach meaningful lessons, then you’re going to want to check out The Dead Sea Squirrels: Season 1 (Original Soundtrack)! Inspired by the popular animated series created by Mike Nawrocki, co-creator of VeggieTales, this 22-song collection brings the humor, heart and biblical lessons of the series into a fun musical experience that families can enjoy together. Released on July 10, 2026, the soundtrack runs approximately 38 minutes and is available to stream on all major music platforms, as well as on CD.

A Fun New Way to Enjoy The Dead Sea Squirrels

I absolutely love the idea behind this soundtrack because it gives kids another way to connect with The Dead Sea Squirrels beyond the television screen. The animated series, which streams exclusively on Minno, follows 10-year-old Michael and two very unusual squirrels, Merle and Pearl, who were preserved in Dead Sea salt for 2,000 years before being unexpectedly revived in Tennessee!

Yes, the premise is as wonderfully silly as it sounds—and that is part of the charm!

Merle and Pearl use their firsthand knowledge of Jesus and His teachings to help Michael and his friends deal with everyday challenges. Through humor, memorable characters and imaginative storytelling, the series introduces children to important biblical truths in a way that feels entertaining rather than preachy.

And now those lessons can travel with your family wherever you go thanks to this soundtrack!

22 Songs Packed With Meaning

The Dead Sea Squirrels: Season 1 (Original Soundtrack) features all 22 songs from Season 1 of the animated series. The music touches on many of the themes explored throughout the show’s 13 episodes, including kindness, honesty, diligence, mercy, self-control, overcoming worry and trusting God.

The soundtrack also takes children through some of the most important moments in the story of Jesus, including His birth, ministry, baptism, the Kingdom of God, the Last Supper, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection.

That makes this much more than simply a collection of songs from an animated show. It is music with a message!

I especially love that children can hear these songs repeatedly and continue to absorb the positive lessons woven into the lyrics. Sometimes a catchy song can stick with a child long after a conversation or lesson has ended, and that makes music such a wonderful teaching tool.

An Incredible Lineup of Christian Artists

One of the things that really stands out about this soundtrack is the impressive group of Christian artists and performers involved.

The album features Matthew West, Bart Millard of MercyMe, Katy Nichole, Ellie Holcomb, Mac Powell of Third Day, Steve Taylor and three-time GRAMMY Award winner Ashley Cleveland, along with Matthew Ward, Durell Comedy, Mike Nawrocki, Jenny Littleton, Mazzy Mason, Christopher Bailey, Aaron Armstrong, Rob Howard, Duncan Phillips, Henry O. Arnold, The Golden Hours and James Weir.

That is quite a lineup!

Bringing so many talented Christian performers together gives the soundtrack an added level of musical variety and makes it something parents can enjoy right alongside their kids.

Perfect for Screen-Free Family Time

This may actually be one of my favorite things about the soundtrack.

While I love that children can watch The Dead Sea Squirrels, having the music available separately means families can enjoy the characters and messages without a screen.

Think:

*Road trips and car rides
*School drop-off
*Afternoon playtime
*Family time
*Church activities
*Arts and crafts
*Family sing-alongs

There are so many opportunities to put on the soundtrack and let the music become part of your family’s day.

And because the songs reinforce biblical themes, parents can feel good about what their children are hearing while everyone is having fun.

From the Pages of Books to the Screen—and Now Your Playlist

For families who already know The Dead Sea Squirrels from the books, this soundtrack is another fun extension of the franchise.

The animated series is based on Mike Nawrocki’s best-selling children’s book series published by Tyndale Kids. The first book, Squirreled Away, has now surpassed 100,000 copies sold, introducing families to Merle and Pearl and their hilarious approach to biblical storytelling.

The franchise continues to grow, too. Book 13, Cybersquirrels, was released April 7, 2026, while Book 14, Field Day Frenzy, is available for preorder ahead of its October 6, 2026 release. Season 2 of the animated series is also currently in production!

The new soundtrack follows three earlier themed EPs—The Squirrel SessionsHe’s Alive! and The Squirrels’ Guide to Good Choices—making it an exciting addition to the growing Dead Sea Squirrels collection.

And There Is Even More Dead Sea Squirrels Fun!

The franchise has also partnered with the Museum of the Bible for a really cool interactive experience connected to the Dead Sea Scrolls: The Exhibition in Washington, D.C.

The interactive scavenger hunt features 10 motion-based kiosks where children can explore virtual caves alongside Merle and Pearl, search for Dead Sea Scroll fragments and assemble a complete Bible verse. It was developed with Hobby Lobby’s creative team and gives kids another hands-on way to explore the fascinating history surrounding the Dead Sea Scrolls.

The exhibition remains open through September 7, 2026, making this a particularly fun experience for families planning a visit to Washington, D.C.

What Does Mike Nawrocki Say?

Mike Nawrocki, series creator and the voice of Merle Squirrel, perfectly sums up what makes this soundtrack special. He describes the songs as fun and super catchy while emphasizing that they carry biblical lessons and themes parents can feel good about. His hope is that kids will want to sing them again and again—and that the truths in the lyrics will stay with them long after the music stops.

And I think that is exactly what makes this soundtrack such a wonderful addition to a family’s music collection.

My Final Thoughts

The Dead Sea Squirrels: Season 1 (Original Soundtrack) is a fun, upbeat and meaningful collection that brings together catchy music, beloved characters and important biblical lessons. I love that it gives children something entertaining to listen to while also reinforcing messages about kindness, honesty, self-control, faith and trusting God.

The combination of 22 songs, an amazing lineup of Christian performers and the fun world of Merle, Pearl and Michael makes this a soundtrack that families can enjoy together.

Whether your kids already love The Dead Sea Squirrels or you’re just discovering the franchise, I think this soundtrack is a wonderful way to bring some of that squirrel-powered fun into your everyday family life!

And honestly, I can see these songs becoming the kind of tunes kids ask to hear over and over again—which is exactly what you want from a great children’s soundtrack!

The Dead Sea Squirrels: Season 1 (Original Soundtrack) was released July 10, 2026, and is available on major streaming platforms and as a physical CD through the Dead Sea Squirrels shop. It is also currently featured on Apple Music Kids’ “Sunday School Kids” playlist and Spotify’s “Christian & Gospel Kids.”
