5 Essential Tips to Make Your Living Room Cozy

There’s nothing better than coming home after a long day to a cozy, comfy room where you can relax and unwind. Many of us struggle to reach the perfect design for our ultimate comfort room, there are loads of obstacles in the way, so how can you overcome them? Let’s take a look at 5 essential tips which will make your living room cozy, and your lifestyle a little more relaxed.

Lighting is essential for any space, the right lighting can make a room seem twice as big, and the wrong lighting can make it cold and clinical. Soft, warm lights are the only way to create a cozy atmosphere. Overhead lights tend to be too bright and harsh, casting long, cold shadows across a room. Instead, go for elegant floor lamps, stylish vase lamps, or retro piano lamps. There are so many lamps to choose from that you should look around and you will find the perfect lamp for you.

Color Scheme

Your color scheme needs a lot of time and attention. Finding the right color for you can be very difficult, so avoid the splatters of test paints all over your room and use a color painting and editing app instead. That way you’ll be able to match any color to your room and see how you like it. Darker, warmer shades tend to add a cozy feeling, dark blues, mustard yellows, or forest greens. But cozy is a subjective term, so start with your favorite color and go from there!

Whether you have a hard floor or not, a rug can be a great addition to a cozy room. A hard floor can be a little cold on your feet and even echoey, so a rug will warm up that space and damped the sounds. A carpet can benefit from a rug because the change of textures from soft to even softer, can be very relaxing. A great rug can be a cozy addition to any room in the house!

Coziness is a sensory experience, so don’t forget about the smell! There are so many beautiful options to odorize your room; wax melters, essential oils, reed diffusers, or incense! A cute wax melter is a perfect tool as it can also be used to heat essential oils and can really impact your wellbeing. If you want to avoid any open flames though, then a reed diffuser is for you, as it can be left out all day and night to give your room that perfect smell.

Bookshelves are a great way to make the most of your wall space and to show off some of your belongings! A nicely organized bookshelf is great to look through, and it gives you an excuse to go into your cozy room on your own to read! You can space out your books with items you’ve collected or family photos, anything to add a little personal touch to the room!
