3 Free Alternatives To Expensive Monthly Subscriptions

When you are trying to manage a budget properly, it’s so important that you stay on top of any subscriptions that you have. So many people get caught out because they sign up to things and then forget about them and the payments just keep coming out. At the time, it doesn’t seem like a big deal because the monthly payments are quite low, but when you start stacking up a lot of different subscriptions, a lot of which you don’t even use, the cost can quickly spiral out of control. A lot of people see these things as essentials because it’s important that you have ways to entertain yourself. After a hard day at work, you might want to de-stress with a workout at the gym or lounge around on the couch with a few episodes of your favorite TV show, and that’s fine, but the cost is a big problem. The good news is, you can have the best of both worlds because there are a lot of free versions to the services that you’re wasting money on. These are the best free alternatives to your expensive monthly subscriptions.

TV is the big one, especially as more companies are coming out with their own dedicated services and if you want to catch all of your favorite shows, you could end up paying for 3 or 4 services at least. Even if they’re less than $10 each, it all adds up once you start subscribing to a lot of different ones. But there are some alternatives if you’re willing to make a few sacrifices. First off, you can use free alternative streaming services like Tea TV, which give you access to a lot of free content, including sports. You can find some great tips from Troypoint on how to get it set up. It might not have everything that you’ll find on your Netflix account, but it’s saving you a lot of money. You could also save money if you go down the old fashioned route and watch DVDs instead. There are piles and piles of them in thrift stores and they cost next to nothing, so why not just watch those instead?

Music subscriptions like Spotify or Apple Music are very popular and you get access to a lot of music for your money. But if you’re on a tight budget, it might not be worth it. There is a free version of Spotify that you can use, you just have to put up with some adverts, which is a small price to pay. It’s also worth remembering that you can find most things available for free on Youtube, so why not just listen on there instead?

Most gyms probably stay afloat on the backs of people that take out a membership and then never go. We’ve all been guilty of it at some point and you can make all of the excuses in the world about why you haven’t been going. But if you aren’t using it, stop kidding yourself and just cancel it. There are so many great Youtube channels that have free workout videos to do at home, so you can still get your exercise in.

If you ditch the monthly subscriptions and switch to these free alternatives instead, you can save yourself a lot of money.
