Savvy Style

What are Some Fashion Pieces that are Worth Investing In?

Chances are pretty high that you’re more than aware that clothes aren’t made like they once were. Thanks to fast fashion, you’re lucky if your clothes can last more than one year. But with that said, while brick-and-mortar shops and even online stores seem to get filled more and more with low-quality fashion items, you can still get some fabulous pieces.

Sure, all the good ones come with a high price tag (there’s no doubt about that), but if you truly want to elevate your style, sometimes that means having to make investments here and there. So, with that said, what’s actually worth the price tag? Well, here’s what you need to know!

Timeless Trench Coat

The trench coat is a perennial favorite that exudes elegance and refinement. Its enduring style and versatility make it a worthy investment. Just think about it for a moment. Has this ever actually gone out of fashion? If you look at movies from the 1930s, they’re all wearing them on rainy days; if you look at shows like Seinfeld, they’re sporting them too.

Of course, all through the 2000s, they were popular. These aren’t going anywhere, so you might want to opt for a neutral hue like khaki or camel to ensure it complements a variety of outfits, from office wear to casual chic.

But do big brands like Ralph Lauren or the famous Burberry be purchased? Honestly, no, you don’t need expensive trench coats like that; besides, sometimes, a brand is literally nothing more than a brand. The chances might even be high that you can find a gorgeous and high-quality piece at a thrift shop or even something like eBay.

Strong Footwear

If you go to your local shoe store, are you actually going to get anything nice? As in, shoes you know for a fact will last for years? Shoes that could easily be fixed by a cobbler if it came down to it? Well, the chances might be a big no. Unfortunately, shoes are just so cheaply made that, again, you’re lucky if you can do daily activities in them and they do not get destroyed within a year’s time. But what shoes exactly? Well, all shoes!

Whether they’re gorgeous cowboy boots for parties or even just everyday loafers, most shoes nowadays (at least what’s widely available, like at Walmart or Target) seem to be poor quality. Think about cowboy boots for a moment; there’s true art in making these, from the cut all the way down to the leather. Mass-produced boots have nothing on the true craft of a cobbler that makes these. Again, not all, but if you were to go to your local shoe store or even shop at a fast fashion website, the chances are high that the quality isn’t good.

That’s why you need to do extensive research on brands and boutiques that excel in their footwear. Seriously, a good shoe or boot is well worth its price in gold. A good one will last for so many years, just like they were intended to be.

Real Denim

If you go to a fast fashion store and check out their denim, you’re going to notice that they’re stretchy, or maybe they seem super thin. You’re not imagining things; it does seem like this is an issue! With a bit of research, you can still get good denim; while, yes, some brands like Levi’s have gone down in quality, you can still get wonderful denim. Honestly, just searching for vintage denim pants can be worth it (and environmentally friendly, too).
