Listening to My Body: Small Changes That Made a Big Difference
This post is a collaboration between Deliciously Savvy and Responsival and all opinions are 100% my own. Thank you for stopping by and enjoy!
Over the past year, I’ve started paying closer attention to what my body really needs… and the difference it’s made in my daily life has been incredible. Like many of us, I used to just push through fatigue, aches, and little discomforts, thinking it was “normal.” But slowly, I’ve realized that small, intentional changes can have a huge impact on my energy, mood, and overall comfort.
One of the very first changes I made was upgrading my footwear with supportive, super comfy insoles. I’ll be honest… I didn’t realize how much my feet were affecting everything from my knees to my lower back. Once I slipped in a pair of super supportive and comfy PowerStep Pink Insoles, it was like a little spark of relief with every step. PowerStep insoles are my go-to for daily wear, keeping me energized and comfy all day long, whether I’m running errands, standing at my desk, or chasing after my daughter. It’s amazing how something as simple as proper foot support can ripple through your entire body.
Here are the other small changes I’ve added that have made a noticeable difference:
1. Prioritizing Movement, Even in Short Bursts
I started adding mini movement sessions into my day… taking the stairs, doing a 5-minute stretch every hour, or walking around the block after lunch. Short bursts of activity keep my muscles engaged and prevent stiffness without feeling overwhelming.
2. Staying Hydrated
It sounds simple, but drinking enough water throughout the day has made a huge difference in my energy levels and even my focus. I keep a refillable bottle at my desk and challenge myself to finish it twice before lunch.
3. Mindful Posture Check-Ins
I catch myself slouching or leaning too much when I’m tired, so I set a small timer to remind myself to check my posture. Straightening my back and shoulders has reduced back tension and made sitting at my desk way more comfortable.
4. Supportive Sleep Habits
I invested in a better pillow and made my bedtime a little more consistent. Even small improvements in sleep quality have helped reduce the stiffness and achiness I used to feel in the mornings.
5. Stretching and Gentle Strength Work
Incorporating a few gentle stretches and strength exercises a few times a week has strengthened my core and legs, making daily activities feel less taxing and my back feel more supported.
6. Mindful Nutrition Choices
I focus on adding more whole foods… fruits, vegetables, lean proteins… rather than restricting anything. Feeling nourished has a subtle but powerful effect on my energy and overall well-being.
7. Taking Micro-Breaks for Mental Recharge
Even a 5-minute walk outside or a few deep breaths at my desk helps reduce tension, reset my focus, and prevent that “afternoon slump” that often leads to poor posture and fatigue.
8. Taking Time for Simple Self-Care
One thing I’ve also learned is that feeling good isn’t just physical… it’s emotional too. Taking a few minutes for simple self-care, whether it’s refreshing my skincare routine, trying a new beauty product, or just giving myself a little extra attention, can completely shift my mood. I love browsing Ulta Beauty for everything from everyday essentials to little treats that help me feel more put together and refreshed. It’s such an easy way to build small moments of care into my routine, and those moments really do add up.

9. Supportive Footwear with Insoles (Again, So Important!)
I can’t stress this enough… having supportive insoles like PowerStep Insoles… has been a game-changer. Proper foot alignment doesn’t just prevent pain in your feet.. it reduces strain on your knees, hips, and lower back. After incorporating these, I feel lighter, more comfortable, and genuinely energized all day long.
Making these changes didn’t happen overnight. It’s the small, consistent adjustments… listening to my body, paying attention to what it needs, and responding thoughtfully… that have made the biggest difference.
If you’ve been ignoring little aches or dismissing fatigue as “just life,” I encourage you to try a few of these tweaks. Slip in some supportive insoles, take mini movement breaks, hydrate, stretch, and notice how your body responds. You might be surprised at how much more comfortable, energized, and ready-for-anything your days can feel.
Your body is speaking—are you listening?

It’s amazing what our body can do when we just listen to it. It tells us what it needs all the time.

This is great advice for all of us. I try and get out walking every day, I feel so much better for it. My main issue is remembering to drink enough, I must carry a water bottle around with me!

I need to start taking a check on my body and health. I have been in survival mode the past year but now I need to start looking after myself

This looks like such a lovely day out, especially with kids. We’re always looking for things like this to get outside more, it’s nice having simple ideas that don’t need loads of planning.

I really related to this, especially making small changes rather than trying to do everything at once. It’s something I’ve been trying to be more mindful of lately. I’ve always been the type of person where I go in full force and try to make so many changes with a very black and white mind set, then I fail and I’m not very kind to myself for it! As I get older, I do learn more about the smaller changes and not pushing through discomfort like you used to! 🙂 Some fab tips here

They say that movement is life. That’s why you are noticing those changes. Moving as much as you can is essential for your body. Well done!

It is very good to listen to your body and make good changes! Footwear can make all the difference – and micro-breaks sounds like something I need.

It is changing the little things that make such a difference. I am much better at staying hydrated now. I am also getting out and about a little more

These are all things I need to get back into the habit of and pay more attention to during the final months of my maternity leave. I need to get into good routines and habits before I go back to work x

This really resonated with me, especially the idea that meaningful change often comes from small, consistent shifts rather than dramatic overhauls. There’s something very empowering in learning to listen more closely to your body’s signals instead of overriding them with routines or expectations that don’t actually serve you.

It’s great that you have made so many small changes which are beneficial. I really need to get up and move more when I’m at work.

Taking care of our body and knowing what it needs is crucial to be energetic and healthy in my opinion. Thanks a lot for the suggestions.

I have really been listening to my body over the past few weeks , I have been quite burnt out and had to really slow down and find out what my body needed
