How to Show Your Loved Ones How Much You Care for Them

Relationships take work, even the ones we take for granted. The relationship between parent and child, for example, is often seen as a bond that is forged and can never be broken, and yet, there are many examples of this being the case. No relationship should be taken for granted because even if that person is always there for you, how you make them feel will change things.

Keeping track of everyone can be hard. Making time for everyone can be hard. Most people don’t need a lot to stay friends, but going that extra mile for them is the best way forward to forge strong bonds and stay happy and healthy.

Friendships are critical to our health, so be a better friend today by showing your loved ones how much you care for them. If you need some top tips on how to do that, follow this guide:

Keep Track of When You Last Spoke/Saw Each Other

When you want to stay in touch with someone, you have to make the effort. Two people assuming the other should go out of their way to make the first contact is how people lose touch. Though you shouldn’t have to keep tabs or make reminders for yourself for friends, it can be a good idea for extended family members. Older generations, in particular, would be thrilled you thought of them and called them every once in a while just to check up on them.

Out of sight, out of mind, but with reminders, you can help keep even those who aren’t living near you or see you often close to your heart. For those you have lost touch with you can use a people search engine to help you find them. All you need is a name and a state to get you started. It’s great to stay connected with those you love.

Create Good Habits

Good habits involve calling people, checking in with people, responding to messages, making and keeping date plans. You won’t always be perfect, but getting in the habit of following through with plans and staying in touch can help you strengthen your bonds and be closer to the people you care about.

Host Dinners

Hosting dinners, brunches, or any meal at your home is a great way to save money, bring loved ones together, and have a great night in. Make it a weekly occurrence, and instead of taking on all the hosting responsibilities on yourself, share in the meal making. Cook together, enjoy some drinks while you do it, and catch up on what has happened during your week. It’s a fun, easy, and budget-friendly tradition you can do with your friends who live in the same city as you.

Make Annual Events a Tradition

If you have a real knack for hosting, you can even try your hand at being the go-to party of the season.

1.    Halloween

A Halloween party will depend entirely on whether you and your friends have children or not. A Halloween party with kids will look much different than a Halloween get together between adult friends. Even if you do have kids, you might want to have a night to yourselves, which can easily be done by hosting it on the 30th of October, November 1st, or any other date close to Halloween (and ideally on the weekend).

2.    Christmas

Christmas is a huge season, and if you host a great party year after year, your home will become a staple. You will be a part of their Christmas tradition, and help bring magic into their lives and their hearts. What better way to see your loved ones, have a great time and give them all a gift they will love year after year.

3.    New Year’s

Similar to Christmas is the New Year’s Eve Party. The older you get, the more likely it is that the perfect NYE bash is a house party where all your friends are, where food is in abundance, and where you can drink without worry. If you have a place that can set off fireworks, then that is an even bigger bonus.

4.    Easter

Easter is a very family-orientated time, so bring your family together for the Easter weekend. You don’t even need to host it at yours. Get everyone together and see how much they would be willing to pay for a rental home, and go about renting a place out for the weekend. You can then design games for the kids, have a huge meal, and enjoy an Easter-themed reunion.

5.    Summer Party

Summer is the perfect time to hang out with friends. If you live in a cul-de-sac, then you might even want to consider hosting a barbeque or a block party.

Send Them Thoughtful Notes

Postcards, hand-written letters, and even a thoughtful text can go a long way. Your parents or grandparents might be particularly appreciative of the time and effort that goes into writing a letter, as it shows your devotion and thoughtfulness. If letter writing isn’t your thing, just checking in via text is often enough. If someone is sick, ask them how they are doing. If you haven’t heard from them in a while, see what’s going on.

Send Them Thoughtful Gifts

Someone celebrating a big promotion? Anniversary? Birth announcement? Send them flowers or other thoughtful gifts. It is so easy to send flowers internationally or to organize for local flowers to be sent to your loved ones. Just read more about the steps you will need to take and surprise their big news with a gift!

Keep Track

It is hard to make time for all your important people, which is why gathering them for group activities can be a great way to keep in touch all at once. Get your friend group together for a weekly brunch. Host a big party for your whole family once a year. Get people together so that your relationship develops and stays strong.

If you really want to go all out, then send them thoughtful messages, gifts, and at the very least try to keep track with what’s going on in their lives. Even if you have to create notes to keep track of what’s going on, this will be appreciated because it shows that you care enough to try.
