How to Clean Your Kitchen Like a Pro

Your kitchen takes a beating every week from food mess, filthy dishes, and common accidents. Since it’s where food is prepared, the kitchen is certain to become dirty quickly and often, so keeping it clean is vital. 

Cleaning every surface in your kitchen every day may be difficult, particularly when you’re on a tight schedule and there are things like sauce splattered on the cooktop and coffee stains on the counter.

Make quick work of degreasing, odour removal, and sanitation tasks with these do-it-yourself cleaning tips for the kitchen. Make a change from your standard cleaning regimen and give these methods a try to keep your kitchen looking spotless. It will make you feel like a pro in your little home kitchen.

1.   Start from the top

You shouldn’t begin cleaning the floor since you’ll need to repeat the process later when you sweep up dust and crumbs that fall from the shelves and cabinets. We recommend beginning at the top and working your way down. Remove dust and cobwebs from cabinet tops, then wipe down the doors and hardware on your upper cabinets and polish the surfaces. As you clean, any debris that falls to the ground will be swept up later.

2.   Clean your dishwasher

The four corners of the dishwasher are a magnet for food debris. This must be the first thing you do when you clean it. You may use a spray bottle filled with water and a multifunctional foam cleaner to treat these spots. The sticky substance will be easier to remove this way, you’ll notice the difference immediately. Go over it with a cotton towel or a sponge once the cleaner has some time to sit.

If your dishwasher is still dirty, just add vinegar and run an empty cycle. You should clean the dishwasher and empty the trapped food.

Use a kitchen cleanser to wipe off the outside of your dishwasher. It is effective against grease and stubborn stains. 

3.   Clean out your fridge

Take everything out of your fridge. Get rid of outdated food and other items that have passed their expiration date. Learn the meanings of the various food labels to reduce food waste. The “best by” date on the package, for instance, indicates when the product will have the best taste. This date is about quality, not safety, contrary to popular belief. 

Then, using a sponge dampened with warm water and some cleaning product that will help your kitchen stay clean, clean the cabinets, walls, and drawers. In order to neutralise unpleasant scents, dilute vanilla essence and clean the fridge with it as well. Additionally, use a soft towel to wipe the door.

When you’re putting your food back in the fridge, make sure to organise it all in a way that makes sense. Put things you often use together next to each other.

4.   Polish wood with lemon essential oil and vinegar

Natural remedies instead of store-bought disinfectants are always preferable. The homemade wood polish has a pleasant fragrance and leaves a shiny, polished finish. You should mix one part lemon essential oil to two parts white vinegar and pour it into a spray container. Wipe clean your cupboards, pantry door, and baseboards with a solution sprayed straight onto a dry microfiber cloth.

5.   Vacuum the inside of your cabinets 

You may use a vacuum to clean the inside of your kitchen cabinets. If you’re tired of picking up crumbs with a towel, use the vacuum’s brush attachment to quickly and easily suction them up. You may also use this method to thoroughly clean your pantry shelves.

6.   Clean the floor

Use a vacuum cleaner to remove any visible crumbs from the floor. You can use a broom instead if you don’t have a vacuum cleaner.

Use a high-quality floor cleaner solution if you mop the floor. When you’re done cleaning, go ahead and disinfect everything. Make sure to only use high-quality disinfectants. 

Perhaps the thought of giving your kitchen a thorough cleaning is not appealing. Nonetheless, it’s not essential that you complete the steps all at once, it’s only important to keep your kitchen clean for as long as possible. Make a schedule of the tasks you need to do and divide them up over the course of a week. Make sure to tackle the more complicated tasks first and to go from the top down!
