Easily Find a Ride with The Best Transportation Apps

Calling cabs to get somewhere is a thing of the past. With transportation apps on your phone, you don’t need to look up the number of a cab service, make phone calls or pay expensive taxi fees. I’ve been using transportation apps to get around for the last few years. Not only can you find cheap transportation options easily, but you also don’t need to worry about expensive car maintenance and parking. I’ve also found them to be particularly useful when I’m traveling. Maxicab is the new way to travel your destination places easily. You can book a Maxi Cab with us at affordable prices.

Over the years I’ve used several transportation apps, so I thought I would compile a list of the best apps to easily find transportation when you need it. When doing research for this article, I came across a site with a list of the top 10 apps for finding transportation. I found the list to be pretty useful, so I’ll drop the link below in case you want to check it out.

Best 10 Apps for Transportation

After some extensive app testing, I rounded up the best 4 transportation apps. I grouped them into two categories depending on your needs. The first group of apps I selected is great for finding cheap transportation options. And, the second group is great if you need to find transportation fast.

Carpooling Apps for Low-Cost Transportation

If you rely on taxis for getting around, then you probably know how cab fees can quickly add up and dig a hole into your pocket. The second group of apps I selected is great if you want to get around but don’t want to spend a lot of money. The best part is that they are more convenient than calling taxis as you can easily find transportation with just a tap.

Apps: Uber, Lyft

My first pick is none other than Uber. This has been my go-to transportation app for quite some time. One of the reasons I really like it is that you can choose from multiple transportation options depending on your needs. If you want to save some extra money you can share a ride with other passengers. On the other hand, if you want to travel luxuriously you can select high-end transportation options, all in one place. Another plus I’ve found is that the service is available in many countries across the globe, so you can find transportation anywhere you go. My only advice is to make sure you pick the right transportation option before you order your ride. If you change your mind after a driver is on his way, you’ll need to pay a small penalty fee for canceling your ride.

My second pick is Lyft. One of the reasons I really like it is that it doesn’t charge you for how much time you spend in the car. Rather, you only pay for the distance you need to travel. I also like that drivers undergo a background check, in addition to the fact that only the ones with the highest customer ratings are allowed to offer their services. Unlike Uber, Lyft is not available overseas. So, if you are traveling outside of North America, you might prefer my previous pick.

Car Sharing Apps for Finding Transportation Fast

Finding transportation needs to be quick and efficient. The last thing you want to do is to arrive late at your destination and miss the movie or event you want to attend. The second group of apps I selected is great if you are short on time and need to find transportation fast. With just a few taps, you’ll find a car and get on the road in no time.

Apps: Turo, car2go

My third pick is Turo. One of the reasons I really like it is that you can rent a car with the least amount of effort. Not only can you quickly find and reserve a car, but it will also be delivered directly to you by the owners. Additionally, I’ve found the rental rates to be well below those you get with traditional car rental companies. The only drawback I’ve found is that your rental experience can vary significantly depending on the owner of the car. Thankfully, there is a rating system in place so you can easily identify the best rental options, and steer clear of low-rated rentals.

My last pick is Car2go. I particularly like how easy it is to rent a car. Within just a few minutes you can locate a car near you, reserve your ride, and pick it up! I also found this to be the best option if you want to save time driving by easily finding a parking spot anywhere you go. A built-in navigation map will identify all the free parking spaces near your destination, so you can drive directly to your parking spot instead of looking around for one. However, I should mention that the process of setting up an account can take some time. New users must be verified, which can take up to 48 hours. So, if you are planning on using Car2go, just set up your account ahead of time, so you can quickly get to driving when you need to.

Conclusion

So, these are my top 4 favorite apps for finding transportation. I tend to use Uber when I only need to get from point A to point B. However, if I need to get to several destinations, I prefer to rent a car for a few hours so I can get things done quickly, without having to wait for a driver. No more calling cabs. With these transportation apps on your phone, you will easily find transportation when you need it.
