Delicious Vanilla Bean Baked Doughnuts
I am super excited to share a delicious recipe that will have you changing the way you love vanilla and I am taking about homemade Baked Vanilla Bean Doughnut. The secret to these incredibly delicious doughnuts is the fresh vanilla bean. It is important to find high quality vanilla pods to use in this recipe as they will give you that perfect pop of vanilla flavor that you’re looking for. My family totally loves this recipe and I love that they can be frosted any way that you like to add that extra layer of flavor. The kiddos always love decorating their own doughnuts and I love a simple vanilla glaze with some sprinkles but they’re good with a yummy milk chocolate glaze, strawberry glaze and I also love a good coconut glaze with coconut flakes on top too. You can check out my recipe below and I highly suggest you pin it as it is that good!
The recipe for these scrumptious doughnuts is below but before you get started make sure you have a good solid and sturdy donut baking sheet. This one from Wilton is my favorite and they come put perfectly. Enjoy!
Baked Vanilla Bean Donuts
Equipment
- 1 Donut Baking Sheet
Ingredients
- 1 1/3 Cup Organic All Purpose Flour
- 1/8 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/4 tsp Kosher Salt
- 5 tbsp Unsalted Butter
- 1/2 Cup Sugar
- 2 Vanilla Beans split in half down the middle longways and seeds scraped into a bowl
- 1/2 Cup Milk
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 Egg
GLAZE
- 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
- 4 tsp Milk
- 1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat Oven to 375 Degrees
- Lightly spray or grease your baked doughnut pan.
- In a medium bowl, you want to whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large size mixing bowl you will beat together the butter and sugar until creamy. This takes about 2-3 minutes.
- Next Beat in the vanilla bean seeds, egg, and vanilla extract until incorporated and then add the milk.
- Add the dry ingredients a little at a time into the large mixing bowl with the wet ingredients. Continue this process until all dry ingredients are mixed into the wet ingredients and you have a nice batter.
- Next…. spoon the batter into a pastry bag and then pipe the batter into each doughnut cavity, being careful not to fill it too full.
- Bake the donuts 8-10 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool them for 5 minutes and then remove the donuts from the pan and allow them to cool on a cooling rack
For The Glaze:
- In a medium bowl simply whisk together the powdered sugar, salt, 4 teaspoons milk, and vanilla until smooth. If it's too thin just add a bit more powdered sugar to thicken it up.
- Once the doughnuts are cooled completely simply dip the tops of each doughnut into the glaze and let the excess drip off. Let the glaze harden before serving. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
