CBD Oil: Does it Really Work?

You have probably heard about CBD Oil as it has become the new medical ‘miracle worker’ that people are talking about. But what is CBD oil? Is it safe? Does it really do all of these amazing things people claim it does? With so much information being thrown around, it is hard to know what the truth is. So here is what we actually know about it:

What is CBD Oil?

Discovered in the 1940s, cannabidiol is a naturally occurring product found in sativa dominant strains. Unlike regular cannabis, CBD does not contain high doses of the cannabinoid THC which means that it doesn’t give you the ‘high’ that some might expect from this type of drug. Even though it comes from the same plant as marijuana, it is not psychoactive and does not affect you in the same way. Hemp is the least processed form of the plant, as marijuana has been modified by farmers to contain higher levels of THC and different tastes and smells, so it is actually hemp that is used to make most forms of CBD oil. On industrytap.com you can find all you need to know about CBD oil.

Whilst it cannot be used in the same way marijuana is used as a recreational drug, it has been proven in studies to have medicinal properties and therapeutic uses. Advertised as a ‘natural’ alternative to prescription or over-the-counter painkillers, CBD oil was found to reduce pain and act as an anti-inflammatory in some studies done by researchers. If this is something that interests you then it might be a good idea to start looking at where to buy cbd oil from if you think that this is something that could benefit you. There are loads of places that can provide you with CBD products, you just have to do your research to get the right company for you. For example, you could learn more about octavia herbal, as this is just one company that offers plant based medicine to help treat common ailments.

What Can It Actually Do?

Anxiety, Depression and Insomnia:

There are many potential uses for this drug and it is widely popular as a painkiller, sleeping aid and as a treatment for chronic anxiety and depression. Whilst many doctors have long advised people suffering with mental health issues to avoid cannabis, as the strong amounts of THC can worsen the effects of anxiety and paranoia, CBD oil does not have these side effects. As mental health disorders have devastating effects on many people’s lives, CBD has received wide interest as an alternative to the more traditional prescriptions received by patients suffering with mental illness.

As aforementioned, CBD has properties that make it effective to help with cancer-related pain and deal with the side-effects caused by cancer treatment, such as nausea and vomiting. Whilst there are existing drugs available, different people have different experiences with these drugs and they don’t work for everyone, so alternatives are always something people are looking for. CBD also shows great promise in fighting cancer-cells, but whilst this is exciting, much more research, studies and assessments need to be done before anything is proven to be efficient and safe.

The use of CBD as treatment for neurological disorders has been the most studied use of this drug and was recently approved by the FDA. This is exciting news for those interested in the medicinal uses of marijuana, but you still need to use caution when using any form of drug and be aware of possible side effects. They have only approved a specific form of CBD called Epidiolex, which is an oral solution that has become the first FDA approved drug used to treat Dravet syndrome. This controlled form of cannabidiol is approved for use to treat two rare forms of epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome, in patients two years of age and older. Having FDA approval means that it is much easier to regulate as a pure and safe substance, as opposed to unregulated products that are potentially unsafe, so this means that patients can receive safer and more effective treatment for their conditions.

Other Uses:

Research is still being done into the properties and potential uses of CBD and how it performs as a treatment to many different ailments. Different studies show promising results in the use of CBD to treat a number of different ailments and diseases, including acne, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, high blood pressure and heart disease. With its growing popularity, scientific research is increasing on this topic and many studies have been successful in learning more about this drug.

Is It Safe and Legal?

Just as with any drug, CBD comes with a list of possible side effects. Lots more research needs to be done before the safety and effectiveness can be proven. Because of the lack of regulation on non-approved drugs and products, it is difficult to guarantee whether or not they contain exactly what is described on the label. Whilst CBD can be considered much safer than regular marijuana, as it does not contain the euphoric inducing THC, you should still take caution and seek medical advice if you encounter any problems. It could be a better alternative to other prescription drugs, some of which can cause serious addictions, so it is worth consulting your doctor or health provider.

Whilst a purified form of cannabidiol has been FDA approved for use as a prescription treatment for epilepsy, it can be difficult to know whether other forms of marijuana are legal in your state. Possession and the use of CBD oil will vary and differ in each state, with different state and federal laws, so be sure to research your local laws and regulations. It is also unwise to travel or cross borders between states whilst having CBD oil in your possession, even in states where Cannabis is legal. This list contains more information about CBD-specific laws and legislations, which is up to date as of May 8th, 2018.

Where Can I Get It?

With so many medicinal properties being promised, many people seek to try it out for themselves and review their own experiences with CBD oil. If you are interested in using CBD oil, then Leafbuyer is a good place to learn more about it. It contains lots of guides with regularly updated information, as well as search features to get more information that is location-specific about where to purchase CBD oil and whether it is legal in your state or area. What you might not know is that it is possible to make your own CBD oil. First, you need to grow a cannabis plant after buying seeds from somewhere reliable like the Royal Seed Bank. Then, using a slow cooker and MCT oil (otherwise known as liquid fractionated coconut oil), it is possible to create your own homemade CBD oil. This is, however, a slow process.

This is definitely a lot of information to process so make sure you are fully researched and have reached a decent level of understanding before using any type of drug, including CBD oil. With more research and studies being done, CBD absolutely shows great promise in the medicinal world and hopefully we will have more safety and effectivity assessments being done to approve CBD as a treatment for more diseases and ailments. If you have had a positive or negative experience with CBD oil, then please do share your story and review and whether or not it has helped you.

There’s still a lot of ambivalence, I think, about CBD oil. I am intrigued by its use as an anti-inflammatory.

I’m sure a lot of people hear cannabis and immediately think marijuana, lol. But their are a lot of people who seem to benefit from this, so more power to them.

I have a friend that had a double masectomy with chemo and radiation to follow. She started taking CBD oil for the treatment of cancer and nausea, etc. Her last checkup revealed NO CANCER. I am considering using it for my severe anxiety and depression.
