Now without further ado lets take a look at the top 5 destinations to visit when in Canada.
1)Vancouver, British Columbia
The first place on my list of places to visit when in Canada is Vancouver as it is known for its beauty, climate, and fun atmosphere that is packed with plenty to do. This beautiful city is set on the shores of the Pacific Ocean and it is backed by gorgeous snow-capped mountains. This is an active city which I love and the locals enjoy the outdoors here year round here.
What I love about this city is that it is perfect for visiting anytime of the year. You can sunbathe on the beaches in the summer months and in the winter months you can ski and hit the slopes at the many ski resorts. Anytime of the year you can enjoy a walk on the seawall or simply take a stroll through the towering trees in Stanley Park. You will also find the most amazing of places to eat and enjoy fine dining as well as casual dining all while watching the sunset. Here you will also find amazing places to shop, such as the markets of Granville Island and the high-end shops in the cities center.
If you find yourself staying in Vancouver for more than a few days and are looking for some interesting outings, then you can take a day trip from Vancouver to some of the local hotspots such as Whistler, Victoria and even some of the smaller towns in the mountains or Fraser Valley. It really is a must visit location when on the west coast of Canada and I am for sure adding this one to my bucket list for traveling in 2021.
2)Toronto, Ontario
Toronto, Ontario is the second city on my list of top five destinations to visit when in Canada and this one is already on my bucket list for next year. Toronto is Canada’s largest city and it is a cultural hot spot not to be missed. Here you will find the ballet, opera, symphony and even Broadway shows. It is also home to the landmark CN Tower which I must see for myself and then add to that that you will find extraordinary shopping, fine dining, amazing casinos and fantastic museums that will make the fun in this amazing city endless for you and the while family. You can even try your hand at gambling via casino online Canada from the comfort of your luxurious hotel room in downtown Toronto, Ontario when you simply feel like staying in.
The capital of Ontario, which is the largest city in all of Canada, is the city that attracts the most visitors. It is a bustling city of almost 3 million people, which makes it for sure the top spot on my traveling list to Canada. I will be sure to check out all of Toronto’s famous landmarks as most tourists do and will make sure to visit and check out Toronto Island, Casa Loma, and also the Toronto Zoo as that will be the perfect family day that the kiddos will enjoy. You can also find all of the best of Toronto events online, including special events to celebrate holidays and cultural events from around the city if you’re looking for a unique experience. You even have the option to visit world-famous museums, like the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Royal Ontario Museum plus other popular attractions like the Hockey Hall of Fame and Nathan Phillips Square.
And for all of the sport lovers in the family… Toronto, Ontario has you covered as they have lots of wonderful sports teams. Toronto hosts the most professional sports teams in all of Canada, seven in total and you do not have to be a super sports fan to enjoy taking in a game. It too is fun for the whole family and no matter the time of the year there is for sure a pro sports game of some kind taking place. You can catch a baseball game of the Toronto Blue Jays, a basketball game of the Toronto Raptors and even a hockey game with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
When you visit Toronto…. the locals will say that the cities major attractions are not what make the city amazing but rather it is the diverse neighborhoods located throughout the city, that make Toronto the amazing place that it is. From areas like Little Italy to Chinatown to Danforth (home to a large Greek community) you can experience delicious foods from around the globe simply by hopping from neighborhood to neighborhood. After enjoying the different cuisines in the local neighborhoods you can get out and explore the city’s natural beauty by taking long walks along Lake Ontario in The Beaches or wander around High Park which is Toronto’s largest public park. Seriously….. Toronto, Ontario has you covered and it is definitely a top destination to visit when in Canada.
3) Quebec City, Quebec
Next on my list of the Top 5 Destinations To Visit When In Canada is Quebec City. This city is amazing and I love the rich history that you will find here. With horse-drawn carriages clip-clopping their way along the cobblestone streets of old Quebec City, it is easy to feel as if you have jumped back in time. Quebec City overlooks the Saint Lawrence River and it’s a French speaking city (although most people speak English in this popular Tourist area) that is rich in history which I love. When tourists get to Quebec City, most are drawn to Vieux-Quebec which is the fortified city core that features those cobblestone streets that I am dying to see. These streets are not only beautiful and amazing to see but they are lined with boutiques, cafes and restaurants that you will not want to miss.
Another landmark not to miss when visiting Quebec City is the castle-like Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac which is well worth exploring even if you are not staying there. A visit to La Citadelle de Québec is also a wonderful choice for anyone that loves history like I do as you can join in on a walking tour to learn about the historical fort, which is still an active military installation to this day.
Art lovers will also love Quebec City as everywhere you look you will see the gorgeous architectural details of the buildings and also be able to enjoy the exceptional museums like the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. The Museum of Circulation is another fabulous place to visit here as it is one of the most visited museums in Canada and it takes you behind the scenes of the history of Quebec. This city will leave you feeling inspired and you will want to visit again and again.
4)Calgary, Alberta
Calgary Alberta is next on my list as it is Canada’s Wild West and there is so much to explore. Calgary, Alberta is home to the famous Calgary Stampede, which is a week long festival featuring rodeo events, concerts, special activities, and exhibitions galore. More than a million visitors head to “Cowtown” every year in early July to celebrate Calgary’s farming and ranching heritage which is one of the biggest festivals in all of Canada.
In addition to Calgary’s horses and cowboys hats…. you can hop back in time to experience life as a pioneer at the Heritage Park Historical Village. I am a history buff so I just love this plus add to that the gorgeous city views that you can take in from the Calgary Tower and the fact that you can stroll along the Bow River through Prince’s Island Park 50 acre park an d there is so much to do that you cannot miss it. Even though its gets mighty cold in the winter months…. the people of Calgary are always smiling due to the fact that this city gets the most sunshine out of anywhere in Canada. On average… Calgary experiences 333 sunny das per year so odds are no matter when you go visit… you will enjoy great weather.
5)Ottawa, Ontario
When I visit Canada for the first time Ottawa, Ontario has to be on the list as it is the capital of Canada. It is hard not to feel patriotic when you are here and if you are a history buff like myself…. this is the place for you. Enjoy a guided tour of the Parliament Building on Parliament Hill that will give you a sneak peek into the world of Canadian government and the building itself is a masterpiece of architectural brilliance and beauty. This city is also home to some fo the most amazing and best of museums and galleries in the entire country.
Some of the museums on my list when I get to Ottawa are the Canadian War Museum which explores the history of Canada’s military and the major events and conflicts that have shaped Canada into the country that it is today. And that is just the start of the amazing museums you can see while here. You can also enjoy the National Gallery of Canada, the Canadian Museum of History, the Canadian Museum of Nature and the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum…. to name a few.
Another thing to be on the lookout for when visiting Ottawa are their amazing festivals. On July 1st…. no city celebrates Canada Day quite like Ottawa does. Each and every February, Winterlude is a winter lovers dream come true as this festival celebrates all things about the cold. You also cannot miss the Rideau Canal as you haven’t truly experienced winter in Canada unit you have ice skated along it. There’s also the Canadian Tulip Festival, the jazz festival, Bluesfest festival and more to enjoy when there and honestly the list of festivals in this amazing city can go on and on.
So what do you think of these Top 5 Destinations To Visit When In Canada? Seriously… this list is just the tip of the iceburg as there are so many other wonderful places in the beautiful country of Canada that I must visit. There is Niagara Falls, St Johns, Newfoundland, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and so much more and honestly as out neighboring country I have been desperately in need of visiting for myself and cannot wait to update once we visit these cities for myself.
