ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Erika Lewis is the author of the Kelcie Murphy Series from Starscape, The Color of Dragons from HarperTeen, Game of Shadows from Tor Books, Firebrand from Legendary Comics, and more, many of which have been published around the world.

She grew up in Virginia before going off to Tennessee for school. While at Vanderbilt University, studying Math and Theatre, she spent a semester abroad, visiting haunted ruins and magical forests that would forever spark her imagination and leave behind an insatiable need to travel.

An internship at CNN led to exciting years working in television, developing scripted and reality shows for various studios and networks. Then, one day, Erika knew it was time for her to write on her own, to build fantastical worlds that stayed with her after every return from a trip, and also to play her part in inspiring the next generation of readers and writers.

MY REVIEW

I absolutely am loving the Kelcie Murphy Series and was excietd to be given the chance to read the first book in the series…. Kelcie Murphy and the Academy for the Unbreakable Arts. This fabulous book is perfection for middle school readers and beyond, as I am an adult and am finding myself unable to put the book down.

I absolutely am loving the Kelcie Murphy Series and was excietd to be given the chnace to read the first book in the series…. Kelcie Murphy and the Academy for the Unbreakable Arts. This book is perfection for middle schoolers and beyond, as I am an adulkt that cannot get enough of it and I am having a hard time putting it down. In this book you meet Kelcie Murphy who goes from foster home to foster home, and who is pretty untrusting of most people in general because of this. Within the first few chapters, Kelcie happens to stumble upon AUA ~ The Academy For The Unbreakable Arts. This is where she discovers that she has powers…..and can control the elements, which makes her a Saiga. Now that she knows she is a Saiga, she can enter her first year at AUA, in order to develop her powers. While there she makes friends, my favorite of all being Niall. I just love Niall’s character and personality because he is the perfect friend for Kelcie. This is such a wonderful fantasy series and I cannot get enough of it!

I love that this book uses Celtic folklore and myths throughout and I also love how the author describes everything perfectly so that I can envision the world that the author created for us. Erika Lewis has done an amazing job with this series as I do not want to stop reading it. It’s a book filled with action, mystery, and more and it will most definitely keep the pickiest of readers entertained. I love that this is a book perfect for both girls and boys and I also love that young readers will absolutely enjoy this amazing fanatsy series in which they get to learn about Kelcie, where she came from and all about her powers too. Kelcie learns that the Otherworld is at war and in danger and I cannot wait to find out what happens next and how she will help to save it. This is a unique book for sure and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and learn more about Kelcie, Niall and all of the amazing characters throughout.
