How to Actively Support Your Child’s School Journey
Time and time again, studies have shown that being an active participant in a student’s education can help them learn more and be more successful in the future. Parents today are incredibly busy, but there are ways they can actively support their child’s school journey to help make sure they have everything they need and that they’re engaged, learning, and doing more while they’re at school.
Assist the School When Possible
It’s a good idea to assist the school when possible. Some parents may be able to take time off work to help in the classroom when it’s needed. Others may decide they want to help with fundraising or bringing in money to help support the kids at the school. Parents can look into different ideas to help with fundraising for your kid’s school to see how more money can be brought in to ensure the students have everything they need.

Show Interest in Their Work
It is incredibly important for parents to show interest in the work done by their child. Whether it’s a piece of art they did at school or the math homework they’re tired of doing, if the parents are interested in it, the children will benefit. Be sure to show genuine interest, as kids can tell when parents are trying to fake interest, and look for ways to be more involved in their work, such as helping when they’re struggling with a math question or learning to spell.
Encourage Curiosity
Parents will want to encourage curiosity in children, as this can help them to be far more successful both now and in the future. Encouraging curiosity can be done by taking them places, spending time together, gifting experiences, and more. It doesn’t take a lot of money to do, either. It can also include structured play, encouraging their natural interests, and asking open-ended questions to encourage them to think.

Support Healthy Lifestyle Habits
Parents will want to make sure they support healthy lifestyle habits, as this can help the kids do better in school and be prepared to learn each day. Take the time to eat a meal as a family at least once per day, make sure the kids have what they need for nutritious meals, and exercise together to encourage everyone to be as healthy as possible. Look into the different ways to support healthy lifestyle habits for kids to start making a difference right away.
Regularly Check on Progress
It’s important for parents to make sure they regularly check on their child’s progress to see how they’re doing and whether they need extra help. Along with checking the grades regularly, talk to the teachers to see what can be done at home to support learning in the classroom. Even if there isn’t homework, parents can read with the child, discuss entertainment they enjoy, or work on studying together to help their child master the skills they’ll need in the future.
If you’re looking for more ways to be actively involved in your child’s education, try out some of these ideas. While parents are busy today, taking some time to actively engage with them and their school can help encourage them to do more at school and help them be more successful in the future. Start today to make a difference.
