How do I get smooth, clear skin?

Achieving smooth and clear skin is difficult for many people, especially when you’re faced with daily stress combined with dirt and dead skin cells. In this article, we’ll talk about the most effective ways — both natural and with the help of skincare products — to achieve that glowing skin. Check them out!

Wash Your Face

Don’t skimp on washing your face twice a day — first in the morning, and then at night. This is particularly important if you’re prone to skin breakouts or have oily skin. Use blotting paper to prevent unwanted shine on your face mid-way through the day.

These habits are effective in preventing acne lesions and pimples. Washing your face before bed helps clear all the dirt and oil that have built up throughout the day on your face. Morning wash gets rid of any hair styling products that have been left on your pillow and transferred to your face.

Improve your Diet

A natural way to achieve smooth and clear skin is having a proper diet. Avoid processed food, alcohol, and refined carbs. These types of food destroy good bacteria and create an imbalance in your digestive system, which can manifest on your skin.

Instead, eat food rich in vitamins and antioxidants, such as berries and other fruits and vegetables. Fish is a popular source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are known for providing smooth, radiant skin.

Use Mild Cleansers

Apart from a good diet, consider using facial cleansers. And when choosing the right type of cleansers, remember that most of them have the same substances, specifically alpha and beta hydroxy acids. These chemicals help remove dead skin cells and dirt from your skin.

In other words, you don’t have to spend money on expensive facial cleansers. Keep things simple: use cleansers that don’t irritate your skin and don’t have a lot of ingredients that may or may not truly help you get smooth, clear skin.

Moisturize

If you suffer from dry skin, your body may overcompensate by producing too much oil, which results in breakouts. Moisturizers help control sebum production and prevent damage from dirt and dead skin cells that clog your pores.

Choose a moisturizer that fits your skin type. Using the wrong kind will only worsen breakouts, dryness, or pimple problems. If you have oily skin, lightweight moisturizers are best for preventing that greasy feeling. Heavier moisturizers are good during the winter months, when your skin may feel tight and dried out.

Get Enough Sleep and Exercise

Another natural way to attain that smooth and glowing skin is to have plenty of sleep. Your body needs to rest and recover from your daily hustle and grind. Sleeplessness prevents it from repairing itself and recovering from daily stress.

Apart from a better diet and sleeping habits, exercising is also extremely helpful — not only for your skin but also for your overall health. Exercising pumps more blood to your skin for more micronutrients. It also combats inflammation and prevents free radical damage.

Relax

Finally, try to avoid stressful events or situations. Stress can trigger breakouts and make existing acne problems worse. Stress-related hormones can cause your sebaceous glands to produce more oil, which is among the top causes of pimples.

There are many ways to de-stress, such as:

*Exercising for at least 30 minutes

*Doing yoga

*Doing deep breathing exercises

*Writing the causes of your stress out

*Meditating for a few minutes

*Playing a musical instrument

*Listening to your favorite music

A lifestyle change may be inevitable if you don’t tend to do many of these activities, but it’s all worth it if you want to achieve smoother and clearer skin.
