Developing the Perfect Curly Hair Routine

Curly hair never really goes out of fashion, there are simply too many variants of the style and, when done properly, curly hair looks fantastic. The style may have moved into the mainstream in the 1970s but it has been a feature throughout history.

Of course, if you’re looking to have curly hair you need to get your routine right. It’s easier than you think.

The Right Product

As with most hairstyles and general hair care, using the right product is critical to creating the perfect style. It’s worth noting that a range like olaplex offers an array of shampoos designed for curly hair. These help to ensure your hair maintains its natural bounce while being fully hydrated.

You should note that this is not a one size fits all approach. Experiment with different products from the range to find the one that works best with your hair.

Conditioning

Washing your hair with a good shampoo is only the starting point. It needs to be followed by a good conditioner, preferably one that untangles your hair.

As soon as you’ve finished washing it dab it dry. You should never rub wet hair as this is more likely to damage it.

You can make sure there are no tangles by running your fingers or a wide-toothed comb through it. It’s also a good idea to use a hydrating mask periodically to ensure your hair stays in the best possible shape.

Drying

As mentioned, you should blot or dab your hair, not rub it. Removing excess water is particularly important if you’re going to use heat styling tools. The dryer your hair the less the tools will be needed and the less damage they can do. Don’t forget, heat styling tools can leave your hair looking dry and dull.

You should use a hairdryer on a low setting and dry your hair upside down. This will help it to dry quicker and for your curls to naturally stay in place. It’s best to stop just before your hair is fully dry and let it air dry the last bit.

Curl Cream

There are plenty of effective curl creams or gel that you can run through your hair. The best time to do this is after hair drying but before your hair is completely dry.

The cream or gel will enhance the curls in your hair without damaging it. Cover your hair evenly and then leave it to air dry. It will look fantastic!

Don’t Forget Regular Care

Curly hair needs the same attention as any other type of hair. That means shampooing several times a week but not every day. This ensures it remains hydrated and reduces the risk of damage. The right finishing products can ensure your hair has a natural glow and looks fantastic.

If you need to wash it between shampoos use a dry shampoo. But, again, make sure it is one designed for curly hair. This will ensure your curls, and therefore your gorgeous style is maintained.
