Synopsis:

Long before Phil Robertson was a reality TV star, he fell in love, started a family, and began to spiral out of control. THE BLIND shares never-before-revealed moments in Phil’s life as he seeks to conquer the shame of his past, ultimately finding redemption in an unlikely place.

A Bit About Phil Robertson:

I had no idea at all what Phil Robertson had accomplished in his life. He was born on Vivian, LA and was the 5th of 7 children. His family was very poor and lived in rugged conditions like having no electricity, a toilet or bathtub. The family rarely went into town to buy groceries and instead lived off of the fruits and veggies they grew in their garden and the meat of deer, squirrels, fish and other game they hunted and fished plus the pigs, chickens and cattle that they raised.

Phil was also a strong and talented athlete in high school and was all-state in football, baseball and track which gave him the opportunity to attend Louisiana Tech in Ruston on a football scholarship in the late 1960’s. At the college he played first-string quarterback for the Bulldogs, ahead of Pro Football Hall of fame Terry Bradshaw, the first overall pick in the 1970 NFL Draft. Phil Robertson was a year ahead of Terry and was the starter for two seasons in 1966 and 1967 and then chose not to play in 1968. It was thought that Robertson had the potential for a pro career, but Robertson was more interested in hunting and Bradshaw even commented about Roberston’s love of hunting, saying “….Phil Robertson, loved hunting more than he loved football. He’d come to practice directly from the woods, squirrel tails hanging out of his pockets, duck feathers on his clothes. Clearly he was a fine shot, so no one complained too much.”

Robertson was approached with a recruitment to play professionally for the Washington Redskins, but Robertson declined because football conflicted with his hunting. He later received a bachelor’s degree in physical education and a master’s in education and taught for several years BUT because he was an avid duck hunter, and was dissatisfied with the condition of duck calls…. he began experimenting with making a call that would produce the exact sound of a duck. This is when he invented his first Duck Commander in 1972 and received a patent for it and then the Duck Commander Company was created in 1973. Today the company of Duck Commander is a multi-million dollar business, headed by his son Willie Robertson and of course…. Robertson and his family were portrayed in the A&E reality TV series…. Duck Dynasty which ran from 2012 to 2017 and covered their daily lives within Duck Commander.

Pretty Cool Story Right!? There is nothing better than a good film like this one as it is a feel-good real life movie that I can appreciate and it simply felt amazing to see his true life story of redemption and amazingness! Get your tickets today to see ‘The Blind‘ in theaters now!
