Is it time for a new pair of glasses? A new lens prescription does not necessarily mean you must try out new frames, but it’s the perfect opportunity to do so. After all, many new glasses frames come out every year, and you may not yet have found the ideal pair for your face!

Oval Face Shapes 

An oval face shape is one that is shaped most like an oval. The face is slightly longer than it is wide, with the jaw and forehead usually being the same width.  

People with oval face shapes tend to have it easiest when it comes to styling hairstyles and glasses, as they suit most styles. Your face could handle a wide range of glasses, from cat eyes to square to oval to rectangle reading glasses for women. Of course, this also means it might take a little longer to find the right glasses for you, so take your own personal taste into account and focus on frames that you’d love to wear.  

Round Face Shapes 

Round face shapes are common and are characterised by a wider hairline and cheekbones, giving a more circular appearance. Usually, a round face is just as wide as it is long (or thereabouts). The cheeks are often fuller, and the features soft and curved.  

For round face shapes, rectangular, square, and geometric glasses work best.  

Square Face Shapes 

A square face has a strong, wide jaw, along with a wide forehead and cheekbones. Unlike the round face, the features aren’t very curved; instead, more angular.  

For square face shapes, round, cat eye, wayfarer, browline, and oval frames work best. There’s a lot of choice there! 

Heart Face Shapes 

The heart face shape refers to a face with a smaller width at the chin and a wider forehead. The chin is the narrowest part of the face, and often this shape comes with higher, prominent cheekbones.  

Glasses that look amazing on heart-shaped faces include cat eye, rectangle, browline, and oval.  

Triangular Face Shapes  

A triangular face shape is the opposite of a heart-shaped face. It is characterised by a narrow forehead and a wider jaw. The best glasses for this shape include round, cat-eye, and geometric style glasses.

Not to worry! There are simple ways to determine the shape of your face, and all you really need is a mirror. Pull your hair back so there’s no obstruction, and look closely at your face, comparing each section regarding width.
