Reading Rescue Clickity Clack: A FUN Interactive Ocean Wordplay to Save a Crab’s Day! by Debra Pehrson Haun quickly became one of those special moments I got to share with my kids… the kind where you’re not just reading a story, you’re experiencing it together.
From the very first page, we were hooked. The playful, bouncy rhyming pulled us right in, and before long we weren’t just reading… we were laughing, guessing, and even singing along. Each page has its own rhythm, and it naturally invites you to bring the words to life. Honestly, the rhyming makes this book such a blast to read out loud that it almost feels like a song you don’t want to end.
What really stood out for us was how interactive it feels. My kids loved chiming in, anticipating the rhymes, and joining the fun as we helped “rescue” the crab. It turned storytime into something more energetic and engaging than usual… full of giggles, movement, and those little moments where everyone is completely present.
There’s also a sweetness to the story underneath all the fun. It gently weaves in themes of helping others and working together, which I always appreciate in a children’s book. And the ocean setting adds a playful, imaginative backdrop that kept my kids curious and excited to see what would happen next.
This is definitely one of those books we’ve already read multiple times… and I have a feeling it’s going to stay in our regular rotation. If you’re looking for a read-aloud that’s lively, musical, and genuinely fun for both kids and parents, this one is such a joy.
It’s not just a story… it’s a shared experience, and those are the ones that stick.
