MY REVIEW
I am in love with The Cobbler’s Bridge as it is a beautifully written and illustrated children’s book that will make the perfect gift for the children on my gift giving list this holiday season. This book takes us to two towns divided by a river — one rich, one poor. The people on each side live separate lives, each thinking they have nothing in common. Then comes the cobbler, a humble shoemaker with a generous heart. Instead of accepting that divide, he decides to build a bridge — not just of wood and rope, but of hope, connection, and love. I love this as it is a much needed message for today and it’s a beautiful read for young minds. I also love that there’s something timeless about this story. It reminded me of old folktales I used to hear from my grandparents….. stories where kindness is the real magic and bridges (literal or not) bring people together. You can feel Marin’s own heart in every line. Knowing that the author was raised by grandparents makes the story’s warmth even more genuine.
The simplicity of this book is what makes it so powerful to me. There are no grand speeches or flashy twists….. just a gentle reminder that love and generosity can transform a community. The cobbler’s quiet determination really stuck with me. He doesn’t fix the world overnight; he just takes one small, meaningful step. Isn’t that how all real change begins? And I have to say…. the illustrations are everything. The textures, colors, and subtle details make the pages glow and you can feel the care that went into each and every brushstroke. It’s the kind of book that looks and feels like warmth.
When I finished this story, I immediately thought about how perfect The Cobbler’s Bridge would be for families to read together. It is the perfect family read in all honesty as it opens the door for such important conversations….. think empathy, giving, and the idea that sometimes, the simplest kindness can ripple outward in ways we don’t expect. It is the perfect read for the holidays or anytime. Get your copy today!
