6 Simple Homemade Christmas Gift Ideas For Adults
As we get older, and friends or family members grow older as well, they are able to buy exactly what they want for themselves, whenever they want, making the task of choosing a meaningful Christmas gift infinitely more difficult. Our adult siblings, older parents, and adult friends absolutely do not expect spendy gifts at this point in life, but a gift that shows thought and consideration for their interests is one of the most meaningful gifts that people appreciate the most. Consider a homemade gift as opposed to buying a gag gift, as most people are tired of useless clutter that they do not know what to do with. If you are having a hard time coming up with an idea, there are always many craft fairs around Christmas time, so consider visiting one to browse the trade show displays for some more ideas. Here are 6 ideas for homemade gifts that are super simple that most anyone would love.
Homemade Vanilla
Making your own vanilla is so incredibly easy and takes hardly any time, and is also so much cheaper and tastier than store bought vanilla. If your friend or family member is a baker, homemade vanilla will be a favorite. All you need to do is buy some amber tinted bottles with a screw cap lid, some vanilla beans and a bottle or pure regular vodka. The vodka can be the cheapest kind, the type should not affect the taste. Vanilla beans can be expensive, so consider searching for a wholesale seller to buy them from. Slice about 4-5 beans down the center and cut them in half, stick them in the bottle, and fill the remainder of the bottle with vodka, and you are done! The longer you wait, the better it will taste. Six months to a year is a good amount of time to wait to use. You can decorate the bottles to look cute with some ribbon around the neck of the bottle.
Recipe In A Jar
Baking is fun, but sometimes we decide to skip it because assembling all the ingredients can be messy and time consuming. Consider finding a recipe of one of your favorite desserts, and add all the dry ingredients into a quart mason jar. Type up the recipe and tie it to the neck of the jar. You can put “add two eggs” or whatever liquids may be needed, along with the directions. This can look super cute if the layers of the ingredients are able to be seen.
Bottle of Wine in A Sweater Sleeve
This is the easiest way to make your gift a little more thoughtful than just a regular bottle of wine. Make sure it is your friend’s favorite wine first, then find an old sweater from the DI with a nice pattern on it. All you have to do is cut off the sleeve, and gather one end together with a needle and thread if you can, and then slip the sweater sleeve over the bottle for a cute way to dress up your bottle! Complete the look with a holiday ribbon around the neck.
Personalized Photo Calendar
If you have a very close friend or family member that you have lots of photos with, a personalized calendar is a great way to go! Since Christmas is at the end of the year, everyone will need a new calendar for the upcoming year. Choose a photo of the two of you together for each month, or make a photo collage for each month if you take lots of extra photos! If you don’t have photos together, you could use a silly meme for each month as well.
Bath Bombs
Did you know that bath bombs are actually incredibly easy to make? Who doesn’t love to take a nice delicious smelling bath every now and then? They take only a few ingredients and a few minutes to make, but you will need to buy the sphere mold. The good part is that once you buy it, you can make as many as you want! You will need corn starch, citric acid, epsom salt, baking soda, a couple drops of your favorite essential oil for scent, and coconut oil, plus food coloring if you want to make it a fun color!
Home Baked Dog Treats in a Jar
If your loved one has a dog, this one will be a hit! Dog treats can be expensive, especially the nice kind without horrible fillers and unhealthy ingredients. Dog treats aren’t any more difficult to make than cookies for humans, and are something that is very unique! Once you are done with the doggie biscuits, you can find a mason jar and paint it with some acrylic paint to make it look like a cute treat jar with the doggie’s name on it. Complete it with a ribbon and you have yourself a very thoughtful homemade gift!
