Savvy DIY: Easy DIY Hacks for Your Prom Night

Prom is an important moment; it is the one night we all remember for most of our lives. Whether you’re preparing for prom for your daughter or you happen to have stumbled across this article as you plan for your own prom night, these next few hacks we are about to discuss in this article will help you look beautiful for the special evening. Let’s get started, shall we?

The Right Prom Dress

Before you can start accessorizing and adding other things to your look, you need a good base. The right prom dress is the foundation to everything. Thankfully, there are a lot of prom night dresses to choose from, from the most affordable to incredibly expensive ones. Having the right limo service in santa ana can also be important for the colour scheme of your outfit, nothing makes a better impression then your transport and outfit matching!

There are three main things to consider when choosing a prom dress:

  • Comfort. You will be wearing the dress for the entire evening, so make sure you’re comfortable in it. Try walking in the dress and see if you can move freely.
  • Color. The color of the dress matters too. Depending on the theme of the prom night, you can go with brighter or darker colors. Find a color that flatters the tone of your skin and make sure to limit the number of colors to a minimum for a more elegant look.
  • Cut. The design line of the dress can either make or break the look. Flatter the parts of your body that you like the most and don’t hesitate to show some curves where they matter.

With the perfect dress selected, it’s time for some hacks.

Ribbon Bow Belt

This is a classic DIY hack that will flatter any simple prom dress. Find a piece of ribbon that matches the color of your prom dress and make a ribbon bow belt. Pick a ribbon that’s the right width depending on the look you are after. For a more modern, minimalistic look, for instance, a 3cm or 5cm ribbon is great.

You can also add a matching pair of bows to the shoes you are wearing. If this is a hack you want to try, simply go for a pair of shoes in the same color as the dress and you will be able to create a simple, classic look in an instant. The width of the ribbon matters too. Anything wider than 2 to 3cm is too wide.

Hack Your Shoes

A matching pair of shoes is just as important as the dress you’re wearing. Always go for comfort first, but don’t forget to pick a pair of shoes that matches your dress nicely. If you’re wearing basic shoes, there are things you can do to accessorize.

You can try adding some crystals or glitter to the pair of shoes. Use removable glue to stick the crystals and accessorize your shoes. You can also use Glue Dots to stick the crystals for the night; removing them later will be very easy to do.

For added flare, you can also use shoe clips to accessorize the pair you’re wearing without ruining it. You can add a bow – as mentioned before – or go with a simpler look by adding small flowers and a bit of jewelry.

These are very simple hacks to try, but you’ll be able to elevate your prom outfit and look gorgeous for the night. Don’t forget to stay tuned for more DIY hacks right here on Deliciously Savvy.

This is such a great post. Prom can be so expensive. You want your little girl to have a night to remember, but don’t wanna have to pay wedding prices for one night of fun. So some of these DIY ideas are amazing and super helpful. Also, that dress is incredible.

Love the shoes. Back in my day we sometimes added clip-on “earbobs” to our shoes (lol i haven’t remembered my grandmother’s name for earrings in ages—thanks for that memory!)
