These are the most delicate, scrumptious and delicious flavors for a pizza. You do not only use shredded mozzarella for this creation….but also fresh slices of fresh mozzarella. Throw in fresh basil and a delicious crust covered with Cucina Antica Basil Cooking Sauce and you have a masterpiece on your hands. This is simply delicious. This recipe was created on my outdoor griddle, as I precooked the pizza dough on the griddle before adding any toppings. This created a delicious pizza experience and I was excited to try it as I have never made pizza this way. The extra crispy crust and rustic melting of the Cucina Antica Basil Coking Sauce plus fresh sliced mozzarella….. created a divine pizza experience. We loved it… and on this pizza I was a bit heavy on the sauce as the crust was precooked and I knew that it could take it. The results…. delish!
Flour surface and create a circle out of the pizza dough pressing it out with your clean hands.
Place the pizza dough gently onto your grill or greased outdoor griddle. I used an outdoor griddle so I just put down a bit of olive oil. After a few minutes, using a spatula, flip your pizza dough over and toast other side for a minute or so. Just keep an eye on it and you will know when it is good to go. You are just getting it ready as it will cook a bit more in the oven too.
Once pizza crust is done, remove from grill or griddle and place onto a pizza pan.
Spread a cup or more of the Cucina Antica Tomato Basil Cooking Sauce onto the pizza crust. Use as much or as little as you would like. I was heavy with mine.... and it was delish!
Spread a bit of shredded mozzarella cheese to cover sauce and then add thin circle slices of the fresh mozzarella on top of that. Go ahead and add as many of the thin tomatoe slices as you would like... and tear up a few basil leaves to add over the pizza.
Place pizza in oven and bake just until cheese is melted and a bit bubbly. I just watched it because it did not take long at all as the crust is basically precooked. You are just melding all of the delicious toppings together. After anywhere from 5 to 7 minutes, remove your pizza.
Add basil leaves over the top and drizzle Extra Virgin Olive Oil all over pizza as soon as you remove it from the oven. You can add a bit of seasoning... oregano, pepper, whatever you like. Simply slice and eat! This is delicious.
