Savvy Tips & Helpful Hints

How to Choose Your Perfect Wedding Venue

Planning your wedding can be a fantastic – if a little stressful – experience. It could be the day you have been dreaming of your entire life, or you could be taken by surprise after years of thinking you’re not the marrying type. Either way, it’s a wonderful occasion and will be the most beautiful celebration. There are many things that need to be included in your wedding plans: guest list, catering, the cake, the dress, and, rather importantly, the venue. Finding the right venue is essential, whether you picture a fairytale castle or the local town hall. Here are a few tips on how to find the right wedding venue for you.

Does it Reflect You and Your Partner?

The wedding is about you and your partner, so selecting a venue that reflects both of you is important. This means that it’s a place you are both comfortable celebrating your marriage in, and possibly even means something to you as a couple. For example, if you met at a bar or restaurant, perhaps it would be nice to return there for your wedding reception if possible. This personal touch adds a bit of extra romance to the day.

Can People Get to It Easily?

Sure, it’s a nice idea to get married on a beach abroad at sunset, and if you want to do that, by all means, go for it. However, don’t be surprised if certain guests can’t attend the wedding if you do choose to have it abroad. It’s not that people don’t want to be a part of your special day, but many of those you have invited might not be able to afford to jet off to somewhere exotic. Accessibility isn’t just about getting married abroad, either. Your wedding venue should be somewhere people can get to and from easily, one that isn’t going to cause problems for guests trying to get home at the end of the evening. You can still get married somewhere idyllic but try to accommodate your guests’ transport and travel options.

What Packages Can You Get?

Most wedding venues offer their own catering and entertainment packages for your special day. Even though you might have your heart set on a certain venue, take the time to compare their offers with other possible locations. If the prices are much higher, you could be getting ripped off; equally, if they’re very low, question the quality of what you’ll be getting when the big day finally arrives.

Can You Afford It?

Unless you are in the incredibly fortunate position of having a limitless wedding budget, you’re going to have to get real about what you can afford. So think clearly about whether you can afford to visit a historic house for your wedding, for example. You might be willing to make cuts elsewhere to have your wedding at your dream venue, but this is something that needs to be discussed with your other half first.

It’s your big day, and it will be one of the happiest days of your life. Use these tips to find the perfect venue.
